Leymah Gbowee’s Mighty Be Our Powers – Join Pastor Joey as we delve together into this challenging and empowering memoir by Nobel Prize winner Leymah Gbowee. In Mighty Be Our Powers she shares her experiences during the Liberian Civil war and her and the women of Liberia’s actions towards a lasting peace. This book does contain accounts of violence, sexual exploitation, and abuse. We will take 9 weeks to work our way through the book and you will not need to attend every week. We will meet at 8:30 a.m. Sundays before worship starting Feb. 2nd. If you can aquire a copy of the book on your own please do so and bring it to the first meeting. If you need a copy please let Pastor Joey know. Our first meeting will focus on the history of Liberia and you will not need to prepare any reading.
